CALL FOR PERFORMERS: New Westminster Canada Day

We are calling all performers and performing groups to submit proposals to perform during the 2019 Canada Day Celebration at Queens Park on Monday, July 1st. We are looking for acts that will engage the community as well as celebrate the spirit and multicultural heritage of New Westminster.

Criteria for performers will include: availability, suitability for audience, New Westminster connectivity and technical requirements. Performers’ honorariums will be paid to all performers and will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

We are looking for the following types of entertainment:

  • Mainstage Entertainment (music, dance, performing arts)
  • Roving Entertainment (mobile and interactive)
  • Wild Card (participatory, pop-up, playful, unexpected)

Submissions must include:

  • Description of act or group, including performance history and links to New Westminster (up to one page)
  • Preferred length of performance
  • Artist fees based on a 35 minute performance for main stage performances
  • Tech rider and stage plot
  • Links to website, videos, and other relevant online content

Saturday Feb 9, Lunar New Year celebration

  • Public Market Indoors, 10.30am – 11.30am closed
  • Net Loft Indoors, 11.30am – 12.00pm closed

*please note that noise from the procession may overlap with times outside of those listed below, in which case times either side are ‘busk at your own risk’.

11.30am – 12.30pm ‘busk at your own risk’, procession will involve a high level of noise passing by the following locations:

  • Triangle Square
  • Island Plaza
  • OAW tbc
  • Railspur Alley

Cash prizes for performers in talent show Feb 23rd

Calling all buskers! 
‘Irish in Vancouver’s Got Talent’ are seeking talent* for their First Annual Talent Show on Feb 23rd, 2019 at St Mary’s Ukrainian Culture Centre. All performers welcome.

Performers do not need to be Irish.

Interested performers are asked to submit their bio and a sample performance (video or audio file) to:

Unofficially, prize money is expected to be in the range of $1,000 (1st), $500 (2nd), and $250 (3rd), and a host of prizes of $100+.

Call for buskers

The Vancouver Symphony will be hosting 12 hours of free music taking place from 10am-10pm, 26th January as part of our 100th-anniversary celebration. We’re interested in identifying buskers who would be interested in playing outside the venues (Orpheum, Pyatt Hall, and Orpheum, Annex) throughout the peak times of the day. We’re anticipating 10,000 people over the day.

 

We have 45 minute slots in the morning and evening. We’ll be booking slots from 9:30-12:30 and 4:00-8:00. We’re looking for musicians that perform jazz, world, or classical instruments. We can provide AC power at both of the locations, on a sidewalk outside of the Orpheum theatre. Both locations are under cover from the elements.

A reminder that like previous years the Public Market is closed all Mondays in January for annual cleaning and site inspections. Therefor, there will be no busking on Mondays in January.

Call for Performers

The Honda Celebration of Light is getting ready for an incredible year of programming! For 3 nights, the shores of English Bay are alit not only by breath taking fireworks, but by an exceptional food and music program.

We are looking for a select few professional buskers to engage with our crowds as they make their way to English Bay for July 28, August 1, and August 4. Performances will be 2 x 45 minute sets between the hours of 7pm – 9pm each night. All talents are welcomed, from roaming to musical.
