Women’s Fair and Flea Market could benefit from some busker love

Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre has recently launched a weekly Women’s Fair and Flea Market, which supports women residents of the downtown eastside. Vendors sell found and made items, and the fair has also received a stipend to directly hire women to help run the event and build skills in event coordination and management.
We are currently looking for performers for our Saturday events. While we have access to power, and there is a tent provided for musicians, performers will need to bring their own equipment. The event is unpaid, our budget is very small, but performers would of course be welcome to collect tips.
Currently we are most in need of performers for Saturday July 30, August 6, September 3 and 23. However, we could certainly schedule performers in for any other dates over the next two months. The event is at the intersection of Cordova and Columbia, in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. The event runs from 11am to 4pm, and we are able to accommodate whatever amount of time performers are free.
Interested performers should contact Jasmine at jasmine.shea.nielsen@gmail.com, and cc Sara at skills@dewc.ca.
